Bailey Canyon Hike to the Second Bench

Hike Reports, LA / SoCal Trails / Friday, July 24th, 2015

So no weekend is complete without a hike.  The weekend of EDC, we came back on Sunday [6.21.15], and i went straight to a hike after grubbing.  My friend came over so we went hiking at the closest trail to my place which was the first peak I’ve ever conquered: Jones Peak of Bailey Canyon Wilderness Park.

I knew I wasn’t going to make it all the way up, but there are two benches near the beginning so that was our goal.  When I was there the first time, I remember a lady told us it was only 10 minutes to the first bench which a lot of people just go to, and I remember the second bench wasn’t too far off.  Since the whole trail is only 3 miles or so to the peak, I figured I would try to make it to just the second bench.

I must say, after bagging five of the six pack of peaks, Jones Peak seemed like a piece of cake.  Still… we did not attempt to go that far.  We only hiked one mile to the second bench because I was still exhausted from the weekend, but it was really nice.

We did make it for the sunset, but with our luck, the mountain was blocking the actual sunset view, but it was still nice to just sit there and watch the daylight disappear.
