Mountaineering

Climbing mountains is not like hiking mountains – it requires more gear (an ice axe, crampons, helmet, and mountaineering boots at a minimum) as you ascend up steeper terrain. Knowing how to use those mountaineering gear is just as important. Here are some routes I’ve done in California that beginners should consider trying if you have the proper gear and skills

Dragon’s Tail Couloir – Colorado Snow Climb in Rocky Mountain National Park

Climb San Gorgonio From South Fork Trail And North Face

Climb the Mountaineers Route on Mount Whitney 14,505 ft

Climb Mount Shasta in the Spring 14,179 ft

Climb Mount Baldy in the Winter via Baldy Bowl 10,064 ft
